SJCA works to strengthen Jewish communal life in Scarsdale and ensure that our community has an organized voice. This includes:

Civic Engagement & Community Advocacy
We promote informed civic participation and represent the interests and perspectives of Scarsdale’s Jewish community on local matters, recognizing and communicating multiple viewpoints where meaningful differences of opinion exist.

Schools & Local Institutions
We offer our organization as resource to the Scarsdale Union Free School District on matters affecting Jewish students and families, and we aim to offer advice regarding curriculum, programming, and Jewish-related topics. We also provide a point of contact for the Village of Scarsdale, Scarsdale Police Department, local businesses, and other institutions seeking guidance or input from the Jewish community.

Community Partnerships
We work with Scarsdale’s synagogues and clergy and serve as a liaison between our community and regional and national Jewish organizations. When appropriate, we seek outside expertise, resources, assistance, and programming to address local needs.

Jewish Life, Culture & Community
We advocate for cultural, educational, and community programming that meets the needs and interests of Scarsdale’s Jewish community. Where an important local need is not adequately addressed by an existing organization, SJCA may develop hyper-local programming of its own.

Community Concerns & Antisemitism
We provide a confidential and anonymous way for community members to raise concerns. We monitor, document, and, when appropriate, respond to antisemitism, antizionism, and any other type of anti-Jewish hatred or discrimination, and other matters adversely affecting members of our community, including through engagement with appropriate institutions and organizations.

Keeping Our Community Informed
We provide periodic updates about issues, developments, resources, and opportunities affecting Scarsdale’s Jewish community.
